Business Brunch & Finance Seminar
On June 15th, 2024, I enjoyed attending the business brunch and finance seminar hosted by the Women's Chamber of Commerce and Industry Guyana and AmCham Guyana at the Marriott Hotel. The event aimed to shed light on leveraging assets for sustainable success, which immediately caught my attention as I am always open to new knowledge and ways to diversify money.
Amidst the delicious meals and aromatic Starbucks coffee, the absolute highlights of the seminar were the engaging and insightful speakers. A management consultant, Tracy Smith, emphasized the importance of diversifying earnings through investments and creating a budget. Her words resonated with me, as she stressed that having money in the bank does not guarantee success.
Hon. Dr. Ashni Singh further expanded on this notion, delving into the significance of market research and providing valuable guidance on prudent investments. His example regarding the scarcity of training rooms and seminar locations was thought-provoking, offering a fresh perspective on investment opportunities.
A particularly impactful moment was when Serah Radhay Kisson, CEO of Drevait Inc., discussed the power of collaboration with other businesses to stimulate growth. Her insights emphasized the need to safeguard personal and business interests, a sentiment echoed by Devindra Kissoon, Attorney-at-Law and president of AmCham Guyana.
More than just the enriching presentations, the networking opportunities were a goldmine. I connected with like-minded business owners and have already identified a potential collaboration between my business, The Wooden Gallery, and Little Otter Candles, owned by Dr. Jessica Alexander. This collaboration promises to bring exciting prospects soon.
Since the event, I've been actively applying the knowledge and advice I gained. I've implemented consistent monthly budgets for both personal and business expenses, recognizing the positive impact this can have on reaching my goals and avoiding the risk of overspending, which can hinder performance. This practical application of the gained knowledge has inspired me, and I hope it does the same for you.
